When you think of joy what comes to your mind? For me, I typically think of James 1:2-3:
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”
It seems to me that we always talk about joy in the times of struggle. Yes, it is important to be joyful in those times. However, it is important to be joyful when life is good too.
We as christians can become so busy with everyday life that we forget about joy. Joy is a choice many of us forget to make. It doesn't matter if your life is great, miserable, sad, or happy, you should be joyful. But, why?
“My songs are full of joy because I know the one who frees us If you remember any line then let it be my thesis, Jesus loves you, Hallelujah, he will never leave us.” - PEAbod
I couldn't have said it better myself. Jesus loves you. Jesus saved you. Jesus will never leave you. What's not to be joyful about?
Can you be happy without being joyful? I think you can. We all know that person who no matter what is going on they seem happy. I'm not talking about putting on a facade that makes you look happy. I'm talking about people who are genuinely happy, they are joyful. The difference in joy and happiness is simple. It's a choice. Happiness is the emotion you feel because of the circumstances, joy is the feeling of happiness despite the circumstances.
I pray that you will come to know the joy of our Lord and that it will stay with you. Be joyful because Jesus loves you, hallelujah, He will never leave us.
