American christian fellowship tastes like vanilla ice cream, prove me wrong…
What do I mean by that?
Much like Sunday morning “fellowship” vanilla Ice cream is safe. Every restaurant in America serves it. It satisfies everyone… but here’s my problem with it. It has no real impact! Who’s ever ordered soft serve vanilla, watched it poop out of a machine into a waffle cone and thought “Wow!”?.
Vanilla ice cream is comfortable to eat because it challenges nothing. Fellowship in America (typically) is comfortable, because it challenges nothing.
If we want to grow into maturity, we must step out of our comfort zone and challenge one another. This works in two ways
1 Confessing to one another, what we’re struggling with, not just sin, but everything in life. The things that you confide in classmates and co-workers.
2 Be proactive and challenge in love the believers that God has put in your life. Those who are afraid of judgment or just too private to confide in someone
These types of relationships are the ones that last, that challenge and change you as a person. They are good for spiritual growth and peace of mind.
I love how the writer puts it in Hebrews 10:.
"19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works."
I know this is hitting home for some… cause it hits home for me and like you, I’m also a child of God, made by the same creator with the same basic spiritual life needs.
If this is something that you want, reach out to me, I’d love to either meet with you or put some resources in your hand to help in this or any other area of your walk with Christ.
