The Real Purge

This last week or so, God has been teaching me the meaning of surrendering, and speaking to me about how to live this out. The definition of the word surrender is to yield something to the possession or power of another, to give oneself up, or to abandon…

Think back to when Christ first saved you…

If your experience was anything like mine, then I am sure you were pretty convicted about some things in your life, and chose to surrender them. Maybe toxic relationships, bad habits, a TV show or some music on your playlist...

Whatever it was,the concept is the same.

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?” - Romans 6.1-2

When God saves us, when we surrender our lives to Him…. We become His. We are reborn, and He washes us clean. Our sin is separate from us…. It is literally removed from us.

In Psalm 51 after David had sin greatly, He cries out to the Lord for forgiveness. “ Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow”- Psalm 51.7

The word “purge” that David uses literally means to “de-sin”. To take out the sin, and wash him clean. If you are a Child of God, He calls you to sin no more.

None of us are perfect, and we will fall short of His glory. When you fall short, do you repent and abandon that sin… Or are you still clinging to it, Christian? When is the last time we prayed and asked God to “de-sin” us?

It is time to let go.

This next week, spend some time alone with The Lord, and ask Him if there is anything in your life that He would like you to surrender to Him, or abandon all together.

Now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.” -Romans 6.22

Love you guys!
