Delusion

Are you delusional?

Delusional - *de·lu·sion·al dəˈlo͞oZH(ə)nəl/ characterized by or holding idiosyncratic beliefs or impressions that are contradicted by reality or rational argument.

Delusion is a funny thing. Somebody can be 110% sure about something and be completely wrong and not see it. You know, like the guy at the gym that thinks everyone is always watching him. Or me who acts like I can give examples at the gym to make people think I go. People can be delusional about many things, but how do you get so far gone that you no longer understand right from wrong?

Amos 5:15 “Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you, as you have said. Hate evil, and love good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the Lord, the God of hosts will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.”

Amos is one of the most sad books of scripture because God is telling His people what is going to happen because of their sin but they think they are in the right. Because of how far gone they are they have become delusional. Their belief is contradicted by reality.

Are you like the Israelites?

How do you know that you aren’t lost in the delusion of your mind? Here's what it really comes down to. You know right from wrong, and you can't get away from that, God's moral law is written on your hearts. When you know something is wrong it makes it so much worse.

Hebrews 10.26 says: “For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.

If you know what you're doing is wrong and you continue with no remorse then you should be in fear of the judgement coming. We all know in the back of our minds that judgement is coming for what we are doing. Now you can numb the feeling, but you can't take away the judgement coming.

James 1.22 says that we have to be doers of what God says and not hearers only...otherwise we're just deceiving ourselves. Sounds a lot like delusion to me.

Take some time to evaluate your life today. Ask the Lord to show you the reality of what's going on in your heart, and then repent of your sin and ask the Lord to cleanse you and restore you back to fellowship with Him!

Love you guys,

Luke K.
