Getting Answers

I don’t have answers. But God does.

There are often questions we ask and we can’t find answers, but all you have to do is know where to find them! The answers we look for can be found in Jesus Christ and in his word. The more you look, the more you will learn, and the more you find there is to learn! That’s what’s cool about God’s word: no matter how much you read, there is always more to learn. God’s word is powerful and reading it is important to our Spiritual health. Not just because I say so, God says so too.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

God’s word is a tool that we are to be familiar with! A carpenter knows how to use their chisel and saw and measuring tools, otherwise what kind of carpenter would they be? Likewise a Christian must know the word of God and spend time and make efforts to become more familiar with it. In his instructions to Timothy, Paul reminds:

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

When we are faced with questions that we can’t answer and situations we can’t handle, our first response should be to pray and then to read the Bible. And maybe pray again after that! God doesn't want us to live in darkness and confusion, he readily gives us answers to our questions, but we have to put in the work to learn them.

The Psalmist nicely summarizes why God’s word is so important to us:

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105

I encourage you to take your time to carefully study your Bible this week. Take your time and pray over what you read that you might learn something you hadn't known before. If you take the time, you will get something out of it.

Have a blessed week! Andy
