Shocking

I was completely shocked today.

Not shocked in the sense of a response to seeing, hearing or experiencing something....no no....I was literally....electrically.... shocked.

It was just a super experience.

It’s interesting how when you stub your toe the pain stays in your toe…generally. Yet when you get electrocuted it travels through your whole body before you can even think about it. Yes, I understand that we know why that is because we can science and all that…

…but it’s none the less, fascinating.

This brought me to think about sin. I often think about sin as if it’s an isolated wound. Merely affecting one tiny portion of my being, yet in reality sin is much more like an electrical current than we realize. When we sin it affects everything….and the byproduct of sin much like if you continue to hang on to exposed wire will be….death.

We can’t “touch” sin and get away with just the finger having been defiled.

One sin makes the whole body unclean.

We can’t compartmentalize our sin….like little squares in the waffle of life. Sin spills over into every compartment, infecting the whole ”waffle”. No, waffles are not sinful…but you get my point.

If we are to biblically understand how sin works we know that it just takes one sin to break our fellowship with God, (see 1 Corinthians 5.6; Galatians 5.9). And we know that all of us have sinned, (Romans 3.23) and continue to battle against sin (Hebrews 12.1).

So here’s what I want to encourage us all to do: Ask the Lord to cleanse you. Today. Tomorrow. Everyday. Ask Him to cleanse you in heart, mind and body. Be intentional about your desire to be close to Him. That means take steps to make it happen.

1 John 1.9 tell us: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”

And David wrote so beautifully in Psalm 51.1-2:

“Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!”

Let these words be echoed from your lips and rekindle that fellowship with your Savior. He is waiting for you right this moment to ask so that He can refresh and strengthen you!

Love you guys!
