“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom” Isaiah 40:28
“For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.“ Romans 1:19-20
I have a few (and by a few, I mean more than a few) things I want you to just take a minute and ponder. Sound good? Great!
Think about how complicated this universe is. Think about how many moving parts our bodies need to have cooperating in perfect rhythm in order to keep us alive. We don’t even think about it and our arms and legs respond and move us around and let us do so many things! Think about how our ears can take invisible vibrations in the air and turn them into sentences and songs! Think about how incredible it is that I can type these symbols and shapes on a screen and you can see them and understand that I put meaning to them because of the order they are in! Think about how many different and awesome creatures and plants and environments there are on this planet!
These things are incredible, aren’t they? It’s enough to keep you occupied in thought for hours on end.
Now think about this: there is a God who engineered all of these things and created all of them to work together in perfect balance. He is such a creative and powerful God! He created us to be with him and this world for us to care for. There is a God who, after humanity corrupted this perfect relationship and perfect creation with sin, has given us a way to return to a perfect standing with him; he has offered us forgiveness. How incredible is that?
God is every bit as abundant in his perfect creativity and power as he is abundant in his love and mercy!
So, when you look around at this world and see how beautiful God’s creation is and how powerful he is, understand that the God who holds this universe together and formed your beating heart is the same God who hears your prayers and longs to be with you. He provided a way to be with him through Jesus and his death and resurrection from the grave.
God is not some far off, distant Creator who just watches from the sky, he is present. He loves you, and he wants you to be with him. “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” James 4:8
This week, spend some time looking around at God’s creation and read what his word says about his love and creativity.
I can assure you, the deeper you go, the more depth there you will find to explore in both creation and God’s love.
Make the most of this week!
