Let's Talk About Love

We’ve all heard John 3:16, the beauty and awe of why God loves us is incomprehensible….but isn’t that kind of cool? That God loves you so so much.

And yet, even within the Christian circle, people feel unloved. Something happens in their life, and all of a sudden, all those verses that were so beautiful and meaningful, and hidden behind a false curtain.

Here are 5 very valid reasons God has and always will love you.

He created you. - (Psalm 139:14) Have you ever made something you were so proud of that you couldn’t help but brag? That’s God. He put us together, he shaped us, he made us all different (not because he’d get confused about who we were) But because He made us the way he intended us to be.

This isn’t like Frankenstein's monster, He didn’t accidentally create us, or end up hating his creation. He Loves You.

2.) He invites you into His family - (John 1;12-13) Are you kidding! Guys! We are in God’s F.A.M.I.L.Y.! Um, coming from a family who adopts kids. You don’t invite someone into your family that you aren’t 100% in love with. We all have that friend, you know, the one that sticks closer than a brother? Is that because you hate him...hmmm. No. it’s because you love him.

Not only are we just in his family. We are his children. Let’s use Mike and Sarah as examples here. Watching them with their family...there is not anyone more loved by them than their kids. That's how God is with us. He takes us under his wing, raises us, feeds us, and is always with us, even when we think we don’t need his help growing anymore (Guilty).

3.) His love is steadfast - (Exodus 34:6) (Numbers 14:18) While you’re on your computer/ phone reading this devo, open up a tab for Psalm 136. Every Other line is “for his steadfast love endures forever” steadfast means unwavering. Nothing can will or has swayed it. Nothing you can do can separate you from the love of God. Because it’s steadfast.

I was in elementary school once, can we just reminisce for a second about who we were going to love forever….how’d that turn out for ya? God’s love is perfect, it’s exactly how God’s love should be. Which leads us wonderfully to reason 4.

4.) God’s love for us is perfect (1 Cor 13:4-7) - Here is another one of those “hard to wrap our brain around” truths. Because we are sinners, and live in a fallen world, perfect love is basically impossible to find without God being the giver of that love. I like to read this passage a lot. Not because I think of marriage or romance. But because that is how my God loves me. He loves me patiently, kindly, humbly, faithfully, and that makes me feel like a million bucks.

5.) He takes our anxieties, because he wants to -( 1 Peter 5:8) If you have never struggled with anxiety or a heavy heart, than you are very fortunate. God understands that those are real, and valid issues in your life. And he tells you to cast them upon him. Because he loves you. But I like how ESV puts it. ~He cares for you ~once more~ He cares for you ~

Guys, it breaks my heart to see so many people feel unloved, uncherished, and unusable. And honestly I’ve been there, and it’s where satan attacks me every time he hits me with a blow. But it's just that silly curtain. The one you can still see past. In fact it’s the one God ripped to be closer to you! FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD (YOU) THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY SON, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE…

So next time you even think “How can God love me” or “why does God love me” Please reference these passages, pray, and seek him.

God loves you.

And so do all of your youth leaders :)
