This morning I read Psalms 34, one of my favorite Psalms. So I thought I would read through a few of the verses to encourage us in our walks.
v. 1 “I will bless the LORD at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
To bless means to speak a good word about God’s kindness or goodness. How often do we talk out loud about the goodness of the Lord? Notice it says “continually”. I want to be continually praising Him, not just with my voice, but by how I live. How I treat others, how I love, how I serve, they all point to the Lord. As soon as we start grumbling, we make it about us.
v. 2-4. “My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together! I sought the Lord, and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”
We all know how undeserved we are to have what the Lord has given us, complete access to Him through Jesus, forgiveness from our sins, and a right standing with him! My soul can only boast in Him and what He has done, we have earned nothing. I love the word magnify, which means to glorify or tell how great it is. Verse four is so encouraging to me because I have a huge tendency to fear.
V 5. “ Those who look to him are radiant,and their faces shall never be ashamed.”
To radiate means to send out light; shining or glowing brightly. I automatically think of the moon, because thats what it does. A great picture, I want to do that, to radiate Christ. To never be ashamed, in this instance, means to not be disappointed in what we hoped for. God is who He says He is, we can trust Him.
V. 8-9. “Oh taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints, for those who fear him have no lack!”
To taste means to see for yourself, experience it. I love eating, if someone offers me food and says “taste this!” I wan’t to try it! The sense of taste is a beautiful gift that God has given us that we often forget to thank Him for, until we are sick and its no longer there. He want us to experience for ourselves His goodness!
So to sum this up, lets work at blessing the Lord today, out loud, and through how we live! Love you guys.
