Psalms 30:4 ~  “Sing praises to the Lord,O you saints, and give thanks to his holy name!”

As we enter this upcoming week our thoughts (should be) thoughts of thankfulness. Honestly, one of the hardest things for me is to have a continual heart of thankfulness. Spilled spaghetti in the bottom of my freshly cleaned oven...yeah that happened tonight. Laundry, piles of papers waiting to be checked from days of school. Ah, you know. The business of life can take its toll on your view of it and just plain wear you out! So let’s stop for a few minutes and let the Word flood our minds to remind us of why we are here and allow it to refresh us. This devo is exciting to me because I need to be reminded. It will be as much for myself as it is for you.

Psalms 34:1 and 3 ~ “I will praise the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together!”

When should we praise Him?? At ALL times people and continually! What if...we did. Would we view our situations differently than we do when we just let ourselves sink in the mud in our sorrows? Instead of, “God, I just can’t do this anymore..I am not capable of this job you have called me to do..” And instead say, “Lord, I am really weak..but you said that I can do all things through You…so I praise You for that, and ask for your help!” Or in my case tonight, “Lord, my clean oven!!! No longer clean oven! But I have one that works so I can feed your children, so I will praise You. My house is a disaster, but thank you for the ones You have given to me for a short time to clean up after.” Having a spirit of thankfulness will help cure the rage monster in you:)

Psalms 100~ “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into His presence with singing! Know that the Lord, He is God! It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name! For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.”

I love this chapter. This needs to be in my face every morning when I wake up! Think about what it says; He is God! He made us, and we are His! He is our Shepherd, and is watching over us.  HE LOVES US! Isn't that enough to make you was to at least smile?! We “hopefully” worship at church with gladness, but that joy needs to come out in our everyday mundane activities. In the end, it doesn't matter that the oven isn't clean anymore, or that there are piles of laundry. What matters is Jesus. And also, remember that we are called to make a joyful noise, so that others hear! People need Jesus, and if we are quiet and reserved about our faith, how will others see? And not just unbelievers, but our siblings in Christ do too FOR ENCOURAGEMENT. Share what the Lord is doing in your life, the things that He has shown you. We need to get our eyes off us and onto Him-in every situations in life. We are not here to accomplish what we want, but to submit to Him and what He wants every day with a heart of praise. And submission. There will be hard things to deal with in life, there is no escaping that. But submitting yourself will bring peace.  If you fight against His will, internal struggle will never cease. It is easier for you to submit to Him.

This has been so encouraging for me! Love you guys, have a blessed Thanksgiving.

1 Chronicles 16:8,9,12,and 23 ~ “Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him...Remember the wondrous works He has done…tell of His salvation from day to day.”
